Date : 2015-02-09On 6 February 2015, Kampuchean Action for Primary Education (KAPE) welcomed ChildFund Cambodia to present KAPE’s programs, especially projects implemented at demonstration school in Kampong Cham town.
ChildFund Cambodia visited KAPE to learn about KAPE’s programs and what KAPE does to improve primary and secondary education. This visit mainly focused on the best practices of the projects especially those implemented by the Beacon School Initiative (BSI) and Improved Basic Education in Cambodia (IBEC) projects which has improved demonstration school’s leadership, school infrastructure, facilities, and curriculum.
Sao Vanna, KAPE’s executive director, presented the impacts of several projects that have been successfully implemented by KAPE, most notably Beacon School Initiative (BSI), one of KAPE’s current projects, and has been implemented at three target schools: Skun High School, Samdech Me High School, and demonstration school. Mr. Prashant, ChildFund Cambodia’s executive director, was introduced to demonstration school, and was given a tour of the school including the science lab, computer lab, library, classrooms, school management, toilets, bio-gardens, school balcony, school canteen and the beautiful campus environment around the school. During the visit, each class teacher described the classes and lessons that they teach their students. Staff from ChildFund Cambodia were so happy to see how the school has developed since KAPE began its programs there.
>At the end of the visit, Mr. Prashant expressed his happiness of ChildFund’s relationship with KAPE and learning how KAPE helps to improve childhood education in Cambodia. ChildFund Cambodia is also one of KAPE's donors who supports the Easy2Learn project in Svay Rieng and is in the process of extending to Kratie province.
KAPE has worked very hard to develop quality education and the Ministry of Education Youth and Sports (MoEYS) has been reforming the education system in the country. Working with ChildFund Cambodia, KAPE has the opportunity to help develop more quality education effectively.
