“Teachers and Parents in Tbaung Khmum Stepping Up with AI

Ms. Sokrey Sacharoh, a attentive parent and dedicated teacher residing in Tbaung Khmum province, experienced a significant transformation in her personal and professional life after participating in an 8-hour AI Literacy training course on October 20, 2025.

Before the training, Ms. Sacharoh had only heard of AI and knew very little about its practical uses. After the course concluded, she gained a much clearer understanding of AI's basics, AI tools, practical uses, and the detailed positive impact it could bring.

The training greatly enhanced the ease of her teaching work. She learned how to use various AI applications to facilitate her tasks, such as:

  • Content Creation: Ability to generate quizzes or recreational games for students.
  • Comprehensive Understanding: Gaining knowledge of AI's definition, evolution, and how to train AI to receive information from us.
  • Practical Technical Skills: Familiarity with applications like Lion, Notebook, Canvas, image editing software, music and song composition tools, and code security checkers, among others.
  • Personal Skill Enhancement: Ms. Sokrey noted an unexpected outcome that AI has made her develop her own skills and abilities better than before.

Standing with her deeply confident and feeling pleased, Ms. Sokrey Sacharoh said that I have gained a much better understanding of AI and its functions, new applications for daily use, and several other programs to facilitate teaching, especially being able to compile questions as recreational games... What unexpectedly occurred as a result of the training is that I noticed AI has enabled me to develop my own skills and abilities better than before.”

The knowledge Ms. Sokrey acquired was not only beneficial for her teaching but also changed the habits of her son, who is just over 6 years old. She taught her son about AI awareness, leading to positive changes: (1) Her son’s digital habit shift has been switched from watching short videos to longer educational videos and now prefers watching cartoons in English. (2) Her son improved self-directed research skills. He learned to select and find videos by himself through typing and voice commands. (3) Time management, reduction in playing games and watching less beneficial videos (with time limits set by her mother). (4) Behavioural change, although there are concerns about increased focus on electronic devices, Ms. Sokrey Sacharoh affirmed that her son's attitude towards learning and technology has changed a lot and become smarter.

Ms. Sokrey Sacharoh has continued to share this knowledge with colleagues and AI users in her community. Through this sharing, she has observed positive changes in her community. Information discretion, both parents and older people have become familiar with AI and are now able to discern which information to trust and which to doubt. The students are motivated to strive to do more research at home, with Ms. Sokrey Sacharoh advising them to use AI wisely and avoid asking questions that could lead to a loss of independent thought.

Ms. Sokrey Sacharoh emphasized that In this era, we must keep pace with others, keep up with ease and modernity to facilitate work, reduce working time, save costs on labor expenditures, and also have better ease of communication.”
