Digital Education Study Visit conducted by the IDEAL Project
Date : 2025-07-23

The Improving Digital Education and for All Learners (IDEAL) project organized a significant study visit to assess and evaluate the utilization of digital tools at its targeted schools. This visit aimed to strengthen digital education and ensure that libraries and computer labs in these schools remain in optimal condition to support students’ learning. The visit was led by Mr. Jeakyun Rho, Country Director, and Ms. Nambee Yoon, Deputy Country Director, representatives of ChildFund Korea, which funds the project. This visit was facilitated by Mr. Sar Sophanak, the project coordinator.
Objectives of the Study Visit focused on four key objectives:
1). Evaluating the Effectiveness of Training Programs
The team gathered direct feedback from project beneficiaries, including teachers, librarians, and school principals, regarding the practical application of knowledge and skills acquired through IDEAL’s training programs. These discussions provided deeper insights into the challenges and successes of integrating digital technology into daily teaching practices.
2) Assessing Student Engagement
The team examined the activities and progress of newly established student digital clubs within the student councils. These clubs demonstrated active student participation in digital subjects, creating opportunities for students to develop new skills and adapt to the digital era.
3) Reviewing Operational Management
The team explored the strategies implemented by schools to address various challenges, particularly those related to managing electricity costs, training ICT teachers, and maintaining new digital equipment. This review helped identify gaps and provided appropriate recommendations to enhance operational efficiency.
4) Evaluating the Readiness of Prek Leap HS - New Generation School
The visit provided an opportunity to assess Prek Leap High School’s readiness to implement the Certiport company and a newly proposed ICT Lab. This evaluation focused on the school’s infrastructure and technical capacity to ensure the successful execution of the program.
During the visit, Mr. Jeakyun Rho and Ms. Nambee Yoon expressed profound appreciation for the dedication of school principals, teachers, and staff who have tirelessly worked to provide digital knowledge to students. Their efforts have guided students in adapting to the transformations of the digital age, supported by critical technical assistance from the IDEAL project through capacity-building training.
This study visit was not merely a routine inspection but a comprehensive learning process aimed at identifying solutions to the challenges faced by schools. Furthermore, it facilitated preparations for an additional computer lab at Prek Leap High School to support ICT education within the New Generation School Initiative. This reflects IDEAL’s unwavering commitment to advancing digital education in Cambodia, ensuring high-quality learning opportunities for students.
The study visit took place on July 16 – 17, 2025 at the IDEAL project’s target schools with financial support from ChildFund Korea and implemented by KAPE.
